Recap: Yale vs. Columbia

New Haven, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Sears registered 22 points and eight rebounds, as the Yale Bulldogs took care of business against the Columbia Lions, 69-59, in an Ivy League bout at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

Sears shot 5-of-8 from the field and 11-of-13 at the foul line for Yale (8-9, 2-1 Ivy), who have won three of four. Armani Cotton and Matt Townsend added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

For Columbia (13-7, 2-1), Alex Rosenberg scored 17 points, Maodo Lo had 13 points and four steals and Grant Mullins chipped in 11 points.

Both teams shot a lowly 28.6 percent from the field in the low-scoring opening stanza, but Yale attempted seven more field goals and held a 23-20 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs led throughout the second half, and while their advantage was just four with under two minutes to play, they pulled away by making 10-of-10 at the stripe in the final 1:11, capping off a 34-of-46 night at the free- throw line.

Yale's bench outscored Columbia's reserves, 28-13.
