Recap: Oregon State vs. Arizona State

Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Eric Moreland scored 16 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as the Oregon State Beavers outlasted the Arizona State Sun Devils in overtime 78-76 in a Pac-12 conflict at Gill Coliseum.

Moreland was one of five players in double figures for Oregon State (16-14, 8-10 Pac-12), which also got 15 points from Roberto Nelson, 13 apiece from Angus Brandt and Malcolm Duvivier and an additional 12 from Devon Collier.

Jahii Carson tallied 24 points and seven assists and Jonathan Gilling added 20 to pace Arizona State (21-10, 10-8), which ended the regular season with back-to-back losses. Shaquielle McKissic chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Beavers staked themselves to a 33-28 lead at halftime. They connected on 45.5 percent from the floor, including 4-of-5 from 3-point distance, in the opening period. The Sun Devils lagged behind, netting just 36 percent from the field.

In the second half Arizona State outscored Oregon State 15-3 from 3-point range, while sinking 44.8 percent of their shots overall. The Beavers were still clinging to a 67-64 lead with less than a minute to play, but a 3- pointer from Jermaine Marshall tied things up ay 67-67. Oregon State still had 20 seconds to respond, but a jumper from Nelson was off the mark, sending the game to overtime.

After trading the lead back and forth for the first few minutes of the extra session, Oregon State went on a 7-2 run to claim a 78-73 lead with six seconds left. McKissic responded with a 3-pointer on the other end, but there was not enough time for the Sun Devils to complete the comeback.
