Recap: California vs. UC Irvine

Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - David Kravish scored 19 points and brought down 10 rebounds as the California Golden Bears defeated the UC Irvine Anteaters, 73-56, in a non-conference bout at Haas Pavilion.

Jabari Bird added 14 points and Richard Solomon nearly had a double-double of his own for California (6-2) with 13 points and eight rebounds. Tyrone Wallace collected 11 rebounds and Justin Cobbs handed out nine assists.

Chris McNealy netted 13 points and Luke Nelson chipped in 12 for UC Irvine (5-4).

At halftime the Golden Bears had a 35-19 lead. In the first half California hit 44.8 percent of its field goal tries while holding the Anteaters to only seven field goals.

After the break UC Irvine improved to 38.2 percent shooting, including a 4- of-8 showing from beyond the arc. However it was not nearly enough to catch the Golden Bears, who hit on 43.3 percent from the floor to close out the decision.

California had a 50-41 edge on the boards.
