Recap: California vs. Furman

Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Cobbs and Tyrone Wallace scored 18 points apiece as the California Golden Bears rolled over the Furman Paladins, 90-60, in a non-conference joust at Haas Pavilion.

Jeff Powers also finished with 18 points, knocking down 6-of-7 shots from beyond the arc for California (9-4). Richard Solomon collected 12 rebounds to go with 10 points and Jordan Mathews tacked on 10 points of his own.

William Gates paced Furman (5-7) with 13 points. Larry Wideman and Stephen Croone each added 11.

California went into the break leading 43-25 after shooting 58.1 percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes, including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. Furman hit 4-of-7 shots from 3-point range, but had half as many total field goals as the Golden Bears (18-9) in the frame.

After intermission the Golden Bears heated up to 63.3 percent shooting, including a 6-of-10 showing from 3-point distance to run away with the 30- point decision.

California scored 18 points off turnovers while having just five turnovers itself. The Golden Bears also outscored Furman, 23-2, on the fast break.
