Recap: Princeton vs. Kent State

Princeton, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Will Barrett scored 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Princeton Tigers slipped by the Kent State Golden Flashes, 73-68, in non-conference action at Jadwin Gym.

Hans Brase came up a rebound shy of a double-double as he tallied 15 points, followed by Ben Hazel and T.J. Bray with 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Tigers (10-2) as they won for the ninth time in the last 10 outings.

The Golden Flashes (9-4) were paced by Devareaux Manley and his 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting behind the 3-point line, while Kris Brewer and Derek Jackson contributed 15 and 12 points, respectively, as they bowed for the third time in four games.

Both teams had a hard time finding the basket in the first half, with Princeton converting 36.4 percent from the floor and the visitors 34.5 percent. In addition, KSU was a mere 1-of-3 at the free-throw line and turned the ball over eight times through the first 20 minutes, allowing the Tigers to claim a 38-26 advantage at the break.

In the second half Manley tallied 14 points and Brewer 12 for Kent State, but it proved to be too little, too late in the five-point decision.

Princeton picked up the victory despite shooting only 35.3 percent from the floor, although the team did make up for it with a 29-14 scoring edge at the charity stripe.
