Recap: USC vs. Stanford

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chasson Randle led five teammates in double figures with 17 points, as the Stanford Cardinal bested the USC Trojans in overtime, 79-71, in Pac-12 Conference action at the Galen Center.

Anthony Brown filled the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals for Stanford (13-6, 4-3 Pac-12), which has won four of five. Josh Huestis posted 16 points and six boards, while Dwight Powell and John Gage netted 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Byron Wesley paced all scorers with 18 points as USC (10-10, 1-6) lost for the sixth time in seven conference games. Pe'Shon Howard contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, six assists and seven steals, J.T. Terrell had 13 points and Strahinj Gavrilovic scored 12.

Neither team shot greater than 40 percent from the field in the first half, but Stanford carried a 32-28 lead into intermission after finishing the frame on a 5-1 run.

The Trojans held a two-point lead with 7:30 left in regulation following an Omar Oraby jumper, but the Cardinal answered by ripping off nine straight points as they appeared to take control of the game. USC fought back, however, tying the game at 61 with 22 seconds to play on a pair of Wesley free throws. Stanford turned the ball over on its final possession and the game went to overtime.

The Cardinal owned the extra session, using a 6-0 run midway through to separate themselves before draining 6-of-6 at the foul line in the final 29 seconds to seal the win.

Stanford shot 9-of-23 from 3-point territory, while USC was just 4-of-13 from beyond the arc.
