Recap: Fresno State vs. Drake

Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Ricks led the way with 25 points as the Drake Bulldogs defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs, 84-74, during the Fresno State Classic at the Save Mart Center.

Ricks added five rebounds and five assists for Drake (4-1). Richard Carter scored 21 points and Aaron Hawley chipped in 12.

Marvelle Harris finished with a game-high 26 points for Fresno State (4-3). Cezar Guerrero added 16 points and seven assists, Paul Watson tacked on 12 points and Allen Huddleston contributed 11 points.

In the first half both teams lit it up from 3-point range, with Drake hitting on 5-of-13 attempts from beyond the arc while Fresno State connected on 7- of-14. Drake shot a superior 51.6 percent from the floor overall to claim a 37-35 lead at the break.

After intermission Drake heated up to 61.5 percent shooting, which was enough to pull away from Fresno State, which hit another five triples in the final 20 minutes.

Drake outscored Fresno State, 44-20, in the paint and had a 34-27 edge on the glass.
