Recap: Drake vs. CS-Bakersfield

Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Richard Carter scored a game-high 18 points as the Drake Bulldogs picked up a 65-57 win over the Roadrunners of Cal State Bakersfield in the final round of the Fresno State Classic at the Save Mart Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Bulldogs (6-1) were Gary Ricks and Karl Madison with 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the team captured its first tournament title since 2008.

The Roadrunners (5-3) were paced by Issiah Grayson who tallied 11 points, while Zach Lamb and Corey Hall both dropped in 10 points in the setback.

Cal State Bakersfield led by as many as five points in the first half, but the team ended up shooting just 38.5 percent from the floor and failed to make a single trip to the free-throw line, en route to a 30-22 deficit at the break.

Early in the second half the Roadrunners were able to whittle the difference down to just three points at 60-57 as Hall knocked down a pair of free throws at the 1:42 mark, but those would be the last points of the game for CSUB in the eight-point loss.

The difference in the meeting took place at the charity stripe where Drake held a 14-6 edge.
