Recap: Drake vs. Western Mich

Des Moines, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jacob Enevold scored 16 points on 7- of-10 from the field, as the Drake Bulldogs narrowly defeated the Western Michigan Broncos, 71-68, in a non-conference contest at the Knapp Center.

Jordan Daniels had 14 points and seven assists for the Bulldogs (7-3). Chris Caird added 10 points.

The Broncos (5-5) were led by David Brown's game-high 23 points. Connar Tava added 16 points and nine rebounds, Shayne Whittington chipped in 15 points and Taylor Perry brought down 11 boards.

WMU shot 48.1 percent from the field and 4-of-10 from beyond the arc in the first half to take a slight 36-33 lead at the break. The Bulldogs shot 46.7 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, including 2-of-6 from behind the 3-point line.

The Bulldogs shot better in the second half, making 50 percent of their field goal tries, while the Broncos regressed to 42.3 percent from the field. With 16 seconds left, Trevor Berkeley made a 3-pointer to give Drake a 68-66 lead, and it would stave off WMU down the stretch.

Drake played well inside, edging WMU 38-26 on points in the paint. The Bulldogs' bench outscored the Broncos' reserves, 25-5.
