Recap: Drake vs. Evansville

Des Moines, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Daniels scored a game-high 28 points to propel the Drake Bulldogs to a 94-66 trouncing of the Evansville Purple Aces in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for each team at the Knapp Center.

Richard Carter dropped in 19 points for Drake (10-3, 1-0 MVC), which has won four straight. Aaron Hawley hit 5-of-6 from the floor off the bench to finish with 12 points and Chris Caird chipped in 10. Seth VanDeest collected 10 rebounds.

D.J. Balentine produced 20 points for Evansville (7-7, 0-1), which has lost four of its last five. Adam Wing contributed 10 points.

Drake only led by four points (39-35) at halftime. The Bulldogs shot 51.7 percent from the floor, including a 6-of-11 showing from beyond the arc in the first period. Evansville kept pace by netting 54.5 percent of its field goal attempts.

In the second half the Bulldogs pulled away by connecting on a scorching 72 percent from the floor, compared to a 40 percent effort from the Purple Aces.

Drake outscored Evansville off turnovers (26-15) and in the paint (42-34).
