Des Moines, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Daishon Knight scored 17 points to lead the Illinois State Redbirds over the Drake Bulldogs 77-63 in a Missouri Valley Conference battle at the Knapp Center.

Reggie Lynch netted 14 points for the Redbirds (11-7, 4-2 MVC), who have won four of their last five games. Bobby Hunter and Nick Zeisloft added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Richard Carter scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Bulldogs (10-8, 1-5), who have lost five in a row. Aaron Hawley was the team's only other double- digit scorer with 14 points.

The Bulldogs struggled to get their offense moving in the first half, in which they shot just 31.8 percent from the field, making just seven shots. The Redbirds, at 53.3 percent shooting, took a convincing 42-25 lead with them into the locker room.

In the second half the Bulldogs improved to shoot 37.5 percent on field goal tries, but the Redbirds kept pace at 41.7 percent. Despite Drake's best efforts, they could not erase the first-half deficit.

Illinois State outscored its opponent 26-18 in the paint and 18-4 on second- chance points to come away victorious.
