Recap: Indiana State vs. Drake

Terre Haute, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Khristian Smith tallied 19 points and four rebounds as the Indiana State Sycamores outlasted the Drake Bulldogs, 60-56, in a Missouri Valley Conference conflict at Hulman Center.

Manny Arop netted 13 points and pulled down four boards for Indiana State (18-6, 9-3 MVC). Jake Odum paced the Sycamores with six assists in the win, which was the second in three games for ISU.

Trevor Berkeley scored 12 points to lead the Bulldogs (12-12, 3-9). Aaron Hawley added 11 points and five rebounds, and Richard Carter chipped in 10 points in the loss. It was the third defeat in a row for Drake.

Indiana State shot an even 40 percent from the floor in the first half, and took a slim 28-26 lead into the intermission. Drake connected on 36.4 percent of its field goal tries in the frame.

The Sycamores shot only slightly better in the second period, hitting 41.7 percent of their shots to 50 percent from the Bulldogs. Indiana State hit just 1-of-8 from 3-point range in the second half, but outscored Drake from the free-throw line, 11-4.

Indiana State had the advantage in rebounding, 34-27, and from the free-throw line, 18-10. Drake outscored Indiana State 24-6 from 3-point distance.
