Recap: Washington St vs. Texas-El Paso

Pullman, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Vince Hunter led four players in double figures for Texas-El Paso with 15 points as the Miners pulled off a 64-51 victory over the Washington State Cougars at Beasley Coliseum.

Julian Washburn recorded 14 points and McKenzie Moore had 13 to go with five assists for UTEP (7-5). John Bohannon tacked on 10 points for the Miners, who have won three of their last four.

Que Johnson nailed four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points for Washington State (6-5). No other player was in double figures, though D.J. Shelton had nine points and 11 rebounds.

At the end of the first half the Miners were leading 28-17. They connected on 50 percent of their field goal tries while holding the Cougars to just 27.6 percent shooting. Washington State also hit just 1-of-12 shots from beyond the arc in the frame.

The Miners shot at a 52.6 percent rate from the floor in the final 20 minutes to hold off the Cougars, who got six shots to fall from 3-point range in the period.

UTEP had a 15-4 scoring advantage from the free-throw line. Washington State narrowly edged the Miners in rebounds (35-34).
