Recap: Missouri State vs. Evansville

Springfield, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarmar Gulley posted a double-double of 26 points and 12 rebounds as the Missouri State Bears held on for a 64-61 win over the Evansville Purple Aces in Missouri Valley Conference action at JQH Arena.

Christian Kirk added 11 points off the bench for Missouri State (13-6, 3-4 MVC), which ended a three-game losing streak.

D.J. Balentine tallied 18 points and five assists and Egidijus Mockevicius had 10 points and nine rebounds for Evansville (9-11, 2-5).

It was Evansville that led 34-32 at halftime, after shooting 52.4 percent from the floor in the first period. Missouri State connected on only 35.3 percent from the field.

After the break the Bears improved to 41.4 percent shooting, while limiting the Purple Aces to eight field goals, as they rallied for the win.

Missouri State was the superior team on the inside, with a 43-28 edge on the boards and a 36-26 scoring advantage in the paint.
