Recap: Illinois State vs. Drexel

Normal, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Fouch led five players in double figures for Drexel with 26 points as the Dragons dispatched of the Illinois State Redbirds, 78-70, in a non-league duel at Redbird Arena.

Fouch connected on 9-of-14 shots from the floor to pace Drexel (1-1). Kazembe Abif had 13 points to match 13 rebounds, Frantz Massenat tallied 12 points and seven assists, Tavon Allen added 12 points off the bench and Damion Lee chipped in 11 points.

Bobby Hunter scored 14 points off the bench for Illinois State (0-2). John Jones contributed 12 points, Zach Lofton tacked on 11 and Michael Middlebrooks and Paris Lee each had 10. Middlebrooks also hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds.

Drexel held the Redbirds to 26.5 percent shooting in the first half to take a 34-30 lead into the break.

After intermission the Dragons were able to hit 56.5 percent of their shots from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, to hold off Illinois State, which shot just 38.7 percent in the final frame.

Illinois State lost despite doubling Drexel up in second chance points (18-9). The Dragons had the edge on points in the paint (18-9).
