Recap: Oakland vs. Illinois State

Rochester, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Travis Bader recorded a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Oakland Golden Grizzlies rolled to a 90-75 victory over the Illinois State Redbirds in a non-league tussle at the Athletics Center O'rena.

Bader connected on 4-of-11 field goal tries for Oakland (3-9). Corey Petros (18 points, 12 rebounds) also finished with a double-double. Tommie McCune added 16 points before fouling out and Duke Mondy and Kahlil Felder each netted 12 as all five starters scored in double figures.

Illinois State (5-5) also had five players in double figures led by 14 points apiece from Daishon Knight and Paris Lee. Tony Wills tacked on 12 points off the bench, Nick Zeisloft tallied 11 and Bobby Hunter chipped in 10. The Redbirds had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss.

Early on the Golden Grizzlies looked destined for another defeat as they trailed by 12 points with just over 15 minutes to play. However Oakland ended up shooting at a 50 percent clip in the frame to rally for a 40-38 advantage at the break.

The second half was less even as the Golden Grizzlies connected on 61.5 percent of their field goal tries while the Redbirds struggled, netting just 39.4 percent.

Oakland enjoyed a 44-29 rebounding advantage. Illinois State outscored the Golden Grizzlies by a 45-21 margin from 3-poiint range.
