Recap: Illinois State vs. Tennessee St

Normal, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Daishon Knight scored 16 points to lead the Illinois State Redbirds to a 64-58 victory over the Tennessee State Tigers in a non-conference brawl at Redbird Arena.

Paris Lee tacked on 11 points and six assists and Bobby Hunter chipped in 10 points for Illinois State (6-5).

Patrick Miller paced Tennessee State (1-11) with 13 points. Kennedy Eubanks nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while M.J. Rhett tallied 12 rebounds.

A poor showing from both teams in the first half ended with Illinois State leading 28-22. The Redbirds connected on only 35.7 percent of their shots from the field compared to a 31 percent effort from Tennessee State.

The struggles continued in the second half when Illinois State hit on 30.4 percent from the floor, while the Tigers made good on 37.1 percent. The Redbirds were able to pull out the victory thanks to an 18-of-20 performance at the free-throw line.

Tennessee State lost despite outscoring Illinois State, 13-0, in second chance points and, 32-18, in the paint.
