Recap: Illinois State vs. Missouri State

Normal, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Daishon Knight scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures for the Illinois State Redbirds, who earned a 67-63 triumph over the Missouri State Bears in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt at Redbird Arena.

Bobby Hunter added 14 points and Nick Zeisloft chipped in 11 for Illinois State (15-12, 8-7 MVC), which has won consecutive games. Paris Lee and Reggie Lynch each tallied 10 points for the Redbirds.

Jarmar Gulley finished with a game-high 24 points for Missouri State (17-10, 7-8), which has lost three of its last four. Austin Ruder tacked on 12 points.

At halftime Illinois State led, 32-26. The Redbirds knocked down 48.1 percent from the floor in the first period, compared to a 40.9 percent showing from Missouri State.

The Bears heated up to 50 percent shooting in the second half and limited Illinois State to six field goals. However, the Redbirds knocked down 22-of-31 attempts at the free-throw line to hold on for the win.

Illinois State finished the game with a 25-12 scoring advantage at the charity stripe. Missouri State had 21 turnovers.
