Recap: Indiana State vs. Belmont

Terre Haute, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Odum scored 25 points and dished out seven assists, as the Indiana State Sycamores outlasted the Belmont Bruins, 85-73, in a rematch of an earlier season matchup, this time at the Hulman Center.

Manny Arop chipped in with 14 points off the bench for the Sycamores (9-3), winners of eight of their last 10 games. Justin Gant, Demetrius Moore and Khristian Smith each scored 10 points in the victory.

The Bruins (8-6) suffered their fourth consecutive loss, despite 18 points from Craig Bradshaw and 15 off the bench from Evan Bradds. Reece Chamberlain finished with 12 points to round out the double-digit scorers.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor in the first half. Belmont went on an 11-0 run to turn a 19-11 deficit into a 22-19 advantage, although Indiana State would eventually claim a 38-36 halftime lead.

The Sycamores kept Belmont at arm's length by making 16-of-19 free throws in the second half. Odum headlined that effort by continually attacking the rim as he helped give Indiana State a 69-59 lead with four and a half minutes to play.

When these teams met on Nov. 14 in Nashville, Belmont rallied back from a 16- point halftime deficit to win, 96-95. J.J. Mann scored 23 points in that game, but he was held to just six points in the rematch.
