The Ramblers shooting improved 37.5 percent from the field and they also made 10-of-13 at the charity stripe, coming back to take the lead late in regulation. UC Davis needed a last-second 3-pointer from Sypkens to take the game to overtime.

With 31 seconds left in overtime, Doyle Milton missed his second free throw attempt for Loyola-Chicago, which would have tied the game at 62. After getting the offensive rebound, the Ramblers turned the ball over, which led to a Hawkins's layup that put the game away for the Aggies, 64-61.

UC Davis bested its opponent in points in the paint (30-22), points off turnovers (24-16) and fast break points (11-2) in the nail-biting win.
