Recap: Texas-El Paso vs. Colorado State

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Vince Hunter and John Bohannon notched double-doubles for the Texas-El Paso Miners as they knocked off the Colorado State Rams, 82-74, at the Don Haskins Center.

Hunter contributed 11 points and 15 rebounds, and Bohannon tallied 11 points and 10 boards for the Miners (3-1). McKenzie Moore scored a team-high 17 points. Julian Washburn totaled 16 points and seven rebounds, and C.J. Cooper added 15 points while shooting a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Daniel Bejarano and J.J. Avila each supplied 19 points for the Rams (2-2), with eight and seven rebounds, respectively. Jon Octeus and Joe De Ciman each added 10 points.

UTEP shot 40 percent from the field during the first half, with the Rams only slightly less efficient at 39.3 percent. The Miners, however, converted nearly twice as many free throws as their opponent and won the battle in second- chance points by a margin of 10-2, as they claimed a 42-35 lead at intermission.

Colorado State would make things even easier for the Miners in the second half, as it shot a meager 33.3 percent from the field. UTEP retained the advantage the rest of the game, leading by as many as 16.

The Miners were hungry on the boards, with 53 rebounds to their opponent's 36. They also had a busy night at the foul line (32-of-43).
