Recap: New Mexico vs. Colorado State

Albuquerque, NM ( - Cameron Bairstow erupted for 29 points and 14 rebounds as the New Mexico Lobos defeated the Colorado State Rams, 80-73, in Mountain West Conference action in The Pit.

Also logging a double-double for the Lobos (10-3, 1-0 MWC) was Alex Kirk who tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds, adding five blocked shots as the team posted a third straight victory. Kendall Williams shot just 6-of-18 from the floor, but still finished with 22 points, eight boards and seven assists.

The Rams (9-6, 0-2) were paced by Daniel Bejarano with 25 points and eight rebounds, followed by JJ Avila and Jon De Ciman with 14 and 13 points, respectively, as the team fell for the second time in as many games.

Colorado State grabbed an early five-point lead, but the squad shot only 36.1 percent from the floor in the first half, en route to a 39-31 deficit at the break.

After connecting on only 2-of-9 behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes of action, the Lobos knocked down just 3-of-9 on the perimeter in the second half, yet they still held on for the seven-point win.

In addition to producing a 48-40 rebounding advantage, UNM also held the visitors to just 37.3 percent accuracy from the floor in the meeting.
