Recap: Ohio vs. Northern Iowa

Athens, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Maurice Ndour scored a game-high 20 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Ohio University Bobcats captured a 75-64 win over the Northern Iowa Panthers in the season opener for both programs at the Convocation Center.

Nick Kellogg pitched in with 16 points for the Bobcats (1-0), followed by Ricardo Johnson and Stevie Taylor with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Taylor also handed out eight of his team's 16 assists on the day.

The Panthers (0-1) were paced by Deon Mitchell and his 18 points, while reserves Chip Rank and Jeremy Morgan responded with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Ohio shot the ball very well in the first half, converting not only 59.3 percent from the floor overall, but also 6-of-12 behind the 3-point line, in order to take a 39-32 edge at the break.

In the second half the Bobcats cooled to just 44.0 percent shooting from the field, but still the team performed well on the perimeter (5-of-11), en route to the double-digit victory.

UNI won the rebounding battle, 34-28, but the visitors shot only 38.8 percent from the field and forced just six turnovers.
