Recap: George Mason vs. Northern Iowa

Fairfax, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sherrod Wright posted 23 points as the George Mason Patriots bested the Northern Iowa Panthers, 76-70, at the Patriot Center.

Wright shot 9-of-17 from the field for the Patriots (3-0). Marko Gujanicic recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and shot a perfect 10- of-10 from the free-throw line. Patrick Holloway added 11 points, shooting 3- of-6 from 3-point range.

Matt Bohannon led the charge for the Panthers (1-2) with 19 points. Seth Tuttle (17 points), Chip Rank (14) and Deon Mitchell (12) also reached double figures in the setback.

A tight first half ended with the Patriots claiming a slight edge, 30-29, after shooting 40.6 percent from the field to the Panthers' 33.3 percent.

With 9:14 left in the game, Vaughn Gray hit a 3-pointer for George Mason to break a tie score and take a 51-48 lead. Although the Panthers would pull within a point several times, the Patriots would hold on to the lead for the rest of the game.

George Mason dominated on the glass, outrebounding UNI, 36-25.
