Recap: Loyola Marymount vs. Northern Iowa

St. Thomas, VI (SportsNetwork.com) - Deon Mitchell had 23 points and five assists, while Seth Tuttle added 21 points and 11 rebounds as Northern Iowa defeated Loyola Marymount, 90-81, in the quarterfinals of the Paradise Jam.

Matt Bohannon added 22 points for the Panthers (2-2), who will play Maryland in the semifinals on Sunday.

Anthony Ireland led the Lions (4-1) with 24 points.

Northern Iowa took a comfortable 53-36 lead into the break and a pair of Mitchell free throws gave the Panthers an 81-67 margin with 4:34 left before the Lions ripped off nine straight. Two Evan Payne foul shots whittled the gap to 81-76 with three minutes to go.

The Panthers countered with an 8-0 sprint to put the game away as Mitchell netted the final six points of the flurry to make it 89-76 with under a minute remaining.
