Recap: Northern Iowa vs. Southern Ill

Cedar Falls, IA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seth Tuttle had 19 points on 6-of-8 field goal shooting to go with seven rebounds and seven assists, as the Northern Iowa Panthers handled the Southern Illinois Salukis, 73-54, in a Missouri Valley Conference clash at the McLeod Center.

Matt Bohannon scored 17 points and Jeremy Morgan added 15 for the Panthers (15-14, 9-8 MVC), who have won two straight games.

Anthony Beane tallied 17 points for the Salukis (12-18, 8-9). Sean O'Brien chipped in 11 points, Desmar Jackson netted 10 and Bronson Verhines cleared six boards.

Northern Iowa made 44.4 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half as it led 32-25 at the break. Southern Illinois shot 40 percent from the floor, including 2-of-8 from 3-point range.

The Panthers connected on 53.8 percent of their shots from the field in the second period, including 7-of-15 from beyond the arc. The lead was never in question, as the Salukis never got within eight points of the Panthers.

Northern Iowa drained 10-of-25 from 3-point range, while Southern Illinois was just 4-of-15.
