Recap: Southern Ill vs. Western Ky

Carbondale, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Harris scored 30 points to lead the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to a 69-60 road win over the Southern Illinois Salukis at SIU Arena in a non-conference game.

Harris hit 8-of-14 3-point attempts and George Fant scored 19 points and only missed one of his eight shots from the field for the Hilltoppers (5-3). Aaron Adeoye worked inside for his 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in helping Western Kentucky to its first road win in four tries.

Anthony Beane scored 20 points for the Salukis, who fell to 2-7, and Desmar Jackson added 15.

The teams were tied 34-34 at the end of a closely contested first-half. However, the Salukis did not take the lead at any point in the first frame despite their 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 10 free-throws. The Hilltoppers hit 42.9 percent of their own field goal attempts and outscored the Salukis 15-9 from 3-point range.

The game remained closely contested and was tied at 46 with 10 minutes to play before Harris gave the Hilltoppers the lead with back-to-back 3-point shots. WKU remained ahead the rest of the game and held the Salukis to just two points over the final 3:51 seconds of the contest.

Harris played all 40 minutes of this game as the WKU bench went scoreless, Southern Illinois got 18 points from its reserves.
