Recap: Miami-Ohio vs. Southern Ill

Oxford, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Geovonie McKnight and Willie Moore each tallied 14 points, leading the Miami-Ohio RedHawks past the Southern Illinois Salukis, 67-65, at Millett Hall.

McKnight and Moore both shot 5-of-8 from the field for the RedHawks (4-6). Jaryd Eustace added another 10 points, sinking 3-of-6 from 3-point range.

Desmar Jackson notched a game-high 27 points for the Salukis (4-9), shooting 12-of-21 from the floor. Jalen Pendleton and Anthony Beane contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Redhawks were the more consistent team in the first half, shooting an even 50 percent from the field to the Salukis' 37.9 percent. The Salukis struggled to establish a perimeter game, shooting 2-of-10 from beyond the arc. At halftime, the score was 34-29 in favor of Miami-Ohio.

In the second half, the Salukis turned the tables, shooting 51.5 percent from the floor, slightly better than 47.8 percent on the Redhawks' side. The Salukis led by four points with 1:21 to play but failed to get another basket the rest of the game, allowing the Redhawks to reclaim the lead a minute later and hang on for the win.

The Salukis shot just 3-of-17 from the beyond the arc in the contest and only got to the line for 1-of-2 in the second half, falling apart late in a game which featured 10 lead changes.
