Recap: New Mexico vs. UNLV

Albuquerque, NM (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryce Dejean-Jones scored 23 points as the UNLV Runnin' Rebels captured a 76-73 victory over the New Mexico Lobos in a Mountain West Conference clash at the Pit.

Deville Smith netted 17 points and Khem Birch tallied 11 points and as many rebounds for UNLV (11-6, 2-2 MWC). Kevin Olekaibe chipped in 14 points.

Cameron Bairstow registered a game-high 27 points for New Mexico (12-4, 3-1). Kendall Williams tacked on 15 points and nine assists, Alex Kirk finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds and Deshawn Delaney contributed 10 points.

The Rebels shot 53.6 percent from the floor in the first half and led 46-42 at the break. The Lobos were just a step behind, shooting 48.1 percent in the period.

In the second half the Rebels cooled to 45 percent shooting, but they also nailed 9-of-13 from the free-throw line and held the Lobos to 40.7 percent shooting to complete the road win.

New Mexico lost despite a 30-22 scoring edge in the paint. UNLV scored 15 points on the fast break.
