Recap: Milwaukee vs. San Jose St

DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Aaron scored 16 points as the Milwaukee Panthers held on for a 64-61 victory over the San Jose State Spartans during the NIU Invitational at the NIU Convocation Center.

Jordan hit three shots from beyond the arc but was just 4-of-16 from the floor overall for Milwaukee (2-1). Austin Arians added 14 points, Steve McWhorter tallied 12 points and five assists and Matt Tiby contributed 12 points and eight rebounds.

Rashad Muhammad came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points for San Jose State (0-2). Jalen Jones added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, Jaleel Williams finished with 11 points and Brandon Mitchell tacked on 10 as a reserve.

Milwaukee clung to a 28-26 lead at halftime after netting 44 percent from the field in the first half. San Jose State shot at just a 37 percent clip but remained within striking distance.

Despite shooting at a 30.8 percent rate after the break the Panthers were able to hold off the Spartans by doubling them up from the free throw line (16-8).

Milwaukee forced 18 turnovers, which turned into 20 points while the Spartans had just five points off of turnovers.
