Recap: Portland vs. San Jose St

Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Bailey poured in 22 points on 9-of-13 from the field to lead the Portland Pilots over the San Jose State Spartans, 86-69, in a non-conference clash at the Chiles Center.

Bailey connected on 3-of-4 3-point attempts for Portland (4-3), while Ryan Nicholas tallied a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Thomas Van Der Mars also scored 11 points, and Alec Wintering registered 10 points and five assists.

For SJSU (2-5), Rashad Muhammad came off the bench to net 23 points, while Jaleel Williams and Jalen James put up 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Neither team shot greater than 44 percent from the field in a tightly- contested first half, but Portland was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and 7-of-8 from the foul line, as it carried a 37-33 advantage into intermission.

The Pilots shot a scorching 62.5 percent from the floor in the second stanza as their lead swelled to as many as 21.

Portland outscored its adversary in the paint, 40-22, and netted 21 points off of 14 SJSU turnovers.
