Recap: Utah State vs. San Jose St
Logan, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - TeNale Roland scored 20 points, shooting a perfect 5-of-5 behind the 3-point line, as the Utah State Aggies captured an 86-67 win over the San Jose State Spartans in Mountain West Conference play at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Kyle Davis registered a double-double for the Aggies (11-3, 1-1 MWC) with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Preston Medlin came close to a double-double of his own with 15 points and eight assists. Spencer Butterfield responded with 14 points and Jalen Moore 10, while Jarred Shaw made his return to the lineup with six points and nine rebounds as USU won for the sixth time in seven games.
The Spartans (6-8, 0-2) were paced by Rashad Muhammad with 20 points off the bench as he knocked down 6-of-9 shots beyond the arc, followed by Jaleel Williams and Devante Wilson with 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the team's second straight setback.
SJSU led by as many as four points late in the first half, but the team was outscored 7-1 at the free-throw line, allowing USU to take a 30-29 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Aggies erupted with not only 57.6 percent accuracy from the floor, but also a perfect 7-of-7 beyond the arc, en route to a 19-point home win.
The Spartans were not only outscored at the free-throw line, 18-4, they were also crushed on the glass, 42-22.Game Notes
