Recap: UNLV vs. Utah State

Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Deville Smith scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting as the UNLV Rebels cruised to a 62-42 victory over the Utah State Aggies in Mountain West Conference play at Thomas & Mack Center.

Roscoe Smith chipped in a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds for UNLV (12-7, 3-3 MW). The Rebels have now won two of their last three games.

Jarred Shaw netted 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Utah State (12-6, 2-4). Shaw connected on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor, and hit a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. The Aggies have lost two in a row and three of their last four.

UNLV shot 44.8 percent from the floor in the first half, including 5-of-14 from 3-point range in the frame, and took a 34-24 lead into the locker room at halftime. Utah State shot just 34.5 percent in the period.

The Rebels cooled off in the second period, connecting on just 30.8 percent of their shots. Fortunately for UNLV, the Aggies also went cold, shooting 26.1 percent from the field. The Rebels were able to coast to victory.

UNLV held the edge in rebounding, 44-29, and in second chance points, 15-4.
