Recap: Cal State Fullerton vs. Cal Poly

Fullerton, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamal Johnson netted 12 points as the Cal Poly Mustangs escaped with a 58-56 win over the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a Big West Conference thriller at Titan Gym.

Brian Bennett added 10 points for Cal Poly (8-10, 4-1 Big West), which has won four of its last five.

Michael Williams scored a game-high 20 points for Cal State Fullerton (6-12, 1-3), which has lost three straight. Alex Harris chipped in 10 points.

The Mustangs shot 52 percent from the floor, including a 5-of-9 showing from beyond the arc, in the first half. The Titans couldn't keep up, shooting 39.1 percent to enter the break trailing 33-27.

After halftime the Titans improved to 46.2 percent shooting, cutting their deficit to 58-56 with 2:09 to play. However, neither team managed to score a single point the rest of the way, allowing the Mustangs to pull out the victory.

Cal Poly outscored Cal State Fullerton 17-14 off of turnovers.
