Recap: UC Davis vs. Cal Poly

Davis, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Avery Johnson paced all scorers with 18 points, as the UC Davis Aggies downed the Cal Poly Mustangs, 85-73, in a Big West Conference bout at The Pavilion.

Georgi Funtarov tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds for UCD (9-19, 4-9 Big West), which snapped a four-game losing streak. Brynton Lemar and Ryan Sypkens netted 14 points apiece, while Corey Hawkins logged 10 points and seven assists.

For Cal Poly (10-17, 6-8), losers of three of its last four games, Chris Eversley had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Dave Nwaba netted 12 points and Maliik Love and Reese Morgan each poured in 10 points.

UCD shot 48.3 percent from the field in the first half, including a lofty 9- of-17 from 3-point range, as it held a 37-25 lead at intermission. Cal Poly made good on 43.5 percent of its tries from the floor in the opening stanza but had just two 3-pointers.

The Aggies' hot field goal shooting continued in the second half (.500) as their lead swelled to as many as 20.

In addition to UCD's outstanding night from beyond the arc (13-of-24), it was also a stellar 22-of-28 at the free-throw line.
