Recap: UC Irvine vs. Cal State Fullerton

Irvine, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris McNealy scored 22 points as the UC Irvine Anteaters coasted to a 72-54 win over the Cal State Fullerton Titans in a Big West Conference clash at the Bren Events Center.

Will Davis added 11 points and eight rebounds for UCI (12-7, 3-0 BWC), which also received 10 points and nine boards courtesy of Mamadou Ndiaye. Alex Young scored just three points on 1-of-6 shooting from the floor, but dealt out a game-high nine assists.

Michael Williams led the Titans (6-10, 1-1) with 18 points and six rebounds. Alex Harris chipped in 12 points despite going just 2-of-11 from the field.

The Anteaters took a 37-21 lead into the intermission after they shot 56.5 percent from the field in the first half. Cal State Fullerton made only 28 percent of its shots from the floor and missed all nine of its attempts from beyond the arc in the opening period.

Both sides went 11-of-25 from the field in the second stanza. UCI managed to slightly extend its advantage on the scoreboard as it outscored the Titans, 11-8, at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes of the tilt.

The Anteaters enjoyed a 43-26 edge in total rebounds and assisted 18 of their 24 makes from the floor.
