Recap: Long Beach State vs. Cal State Fullerton

Long Beach, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Caffey stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists to lead the Long Beach State 49ers to an easy 75-56 triumph over the Cal State Fullerton Titans in Big West Conference action at Walter Pyramid.

Caffey shot 8-of-16 from the field and 6-of-6 at the foul line for LBSU (9-12, 5-2 Big West), winners of a season-high four straight games. Tyler Lamb finished with 18 points for the hosts, while Branford Jones chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.

For Fullerton (7-13, 2-4), which has lost four of five, Michael Williams scored 18 and Alex Harris netted 16, but the team shot a lowly 31.3 percent from the field on the day.

LBSU ran out to a 12-3 advantage less than six minutes into the game and eventually took a 38-26 lead into intermission after shooting 51.9 percent from the field in the first half.

The 49ers actually improved after halftime, knocking down 59.1 percent of their shots overall, as they coasted to the 19-point victory.

LBSU was 18-of-24 from the foul line in the game, while Fullerton shot a dreadful 11-of-23 at the stripe.
