Recap: CS-Northridge vs. UC Davis

Northridge, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Maxwell scored 26 points on 8- of-11 from the field and 10-of-10 from the foul line, as the Cal State Northridge Matadors defeated the UC Davis Aggies, 89-77, in a Big West Conference tilt at The Matadome.

Josh Green scored 22 points for the Matadors (9-7, 1-0 Big West) and added six assists. Stephan Hicks pitched in 17 points while Landon Drew had nine assists.

Corey Hawkins paced the Aggies (5-11, 0-1) with 25 points and four steals. Darius Graham added 13 points while Georgi Funtarov chipped in 12. Ryan Sypkens scored 11 points and Clint Bozner had six rebounds.

Northridge shot an impressive 57.7 percent from the floor including 3-of-6 from 3-point range in the first period. The Matadors took a 39-31 lead into the break. The Aggies struggled by making 37.9 percent of their field goal attempts, including a miserable 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.

The Matadors heated up in the second half by draining 66.7 percent of their shots from the field as they coasted to victory.

Northridge edged UC Davis inside by outscoring it 42-36 in the paint.
