Recap: Tennessee St vs. New Mexico St

Honolulu, HI (SportsNetwork.com) - Daniel Mullings scored 16 points for the Aggies as New Mexico State downed Tennessee State, 70-55, in the Rainbow Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Tshilidzi Nephawe contributed a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for NMSU (1-1). D.K. Eldridge added 14 points while Sim Bhullar tallied 12 points and eight rebounds.

TSU (0-2) came up short despite a 30-point outing by Patrick Miler, who finished 12-of-22 from the field. The second-leading scorer for the Tigers was M.J. Rhett, who posted just six points on 2-of-9 shooting from the floor.

The Aggies took a 38-32 lead into halftime after they hit on 50 percent of their field goal attempts and converted 11-of-12 shots at the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes.

The Tigers could not keep pace in the second half as they were limited to just 29.6 percent shooting from the field. NMSU sank 11-of-16 attempts at the free- throw line to coast to the 15-point decision.

The Aggies' tremendous size helped them hold a dominant, 41-23 edge in the rebounding battle and also block seven shots collectively.
