Recap: Portland vs. UC Davis

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Kevin Bailey poured in 29 points to lead the Portland Pilots to a 100-83 decision over the UC Aggies in the season opener for both teams at the Chiles Center.

Ryan Nicholas added 27 points and six rebounds for the Pilots (1-0). Thomas Van Der Mars chipped in 11 points and five rebounds while Bryce Pressley dealt out a team-high total of seven assists.

Josh Ritchart paced UC Davis (0-1) with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor. Corey Hawkins contributed 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Darius Graham tallied 12 points. Ryan Sypkens and Brynton Lemar netted 11 points apiece in the losing effort.

Portland took a 52-39 lead into halftime after hitting on 17-of-33 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Aggies fell behind after converting 40 percent of their field goal tries including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Pilots extended their lead as they sank 15-of-19 attempts from the charity stripe after halftime.

Portland outscored the Aggies, 38-32, in the paint and also, 12-7, in fast break points to collect the win.
