Corpus Christi, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Luis Jacobo tallied 24 points for the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons as they knocked off the Texas-Pan American Broncs in the Islanders Basketball Tournament, 66-60, at the American Bank Center.

Jacobo shot 7-for-13 from the field and added seven rebounds for the Mastodons (2-2), and Joe Reed picked up a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Javorn Farrell notched 22 points, shooting 9-for-16 from the field for the Broncs (2-3). Shaquille Hines added 11 points in the losing effort.

IPFW led through the entire first half despite shooting only 30.6 percent from the field. UTPA missed all six shots it attempted from 3-point range in the half.

The Mastodons improved from the field in the second half, shooting 44.4 percent. With 9:10 remaining, Hines was fouled as he hit a jumper to tie the score at 44. He completed the three-point play to give the Broncs a one-point lead, but it was the only advantage they ever had in the game, even though they were able to get the game tied on three more occasions. Pierre Bland's layup with 4:31 proved to be the game-winner.

The Mastodons got a huge lift from their bench, which accounted for over half of their points with 39. They also dominated the boards, where they corralled 21 offensive rebounds and scored 23 second-chance points.
