Recap: UC Davis vs. Furman

Davis, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Croone paced five teammates in double figures with 17 points, as the Furman Paladins used a strong second half to take down the UC Davis Aggies, 75-65, in a non-conference bout at The Pavilion.

Larry Wideman scored 15 points for Furman (6-7), which has won two of three. Kendrec Ferrara netted 14 points, while Charlie Reddick and William Gates poured in 11 and 10, respectively.

For UCD (4-10), losers of eight of its last nine games, Corey Hawkins led the way with 17 points. Ryan Sypkens shot 5-of-9 from 3-point range for 15 points, Georgi Funtarov put up 13 points and six rebounds and Darius Graham added 11 points and five assists.

Furman shot 46.2 percent from the field in the first half, much better than UCD's 33.3 percent, but it carried just a one-point lead into the break, 29-28. The Aggies kept the game close by shooting 3-of-8 from beyond the arc and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line in the opening stanza.

The Paladins made a statement early in the second half by opening up with a 12-2 run to separate themselves. The Aggies never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Furman finished the night shooting 51.9 percent from the field while holding UCD to just 36.8 percent. It also won the rebounding battle, 34-30.
