Recap: UC Irvine vs. Long Island

Irvine, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris McNealy scored 15 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the UC Irvine Anteaters dismissed the Long Island Blackbirds, 84-64, as part of the 2K Sports Classic at the Bren Events Center.

Will Davis and Mamadou Ndiaye both dropped in 12 points, the former pulling down eight rebounds and the latter shooting as perfect 5-of-5 from the floor for the Anteaters (3-2). Luke Nelson pitched in with 10 points in 18 minutes for the squad.

The Blackbirds (1-2) were paced by Landon Atterberry who tallied 14 points, followed by Gilbert Parga with 10.

LIU led for a moment early on in the meeting, but the team shot just 9-of-30 (.300) from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action, compared to 58.6 percent for the Anteaters as the hosts grabbed a 46-28 lead at the break.

In the second half the Blackbirds again struggled from the floor (.387), while UCI converted 51.6 percent in order to capture the 20-point win.

The Anteaters won the battle of the boards, 44-29, and outscored the visitors in the paint, 38-20.
