Recap: Denver vs. UC Irvine

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris McNealy and Luke Nelson each scored 14 points to lead the UC Irvine Anteaters past the Denver Pioneers, 63-50, in a non-conference clash at Magness Arena.

Mamadou Ndiaye netted 11 points and blocked five shots for UCI (7-6), which has won two of three.

For Denver (5-6), Brett Olson put up 14 points, while Jalen Love posted 11 points on 3-of-4 from 3-point range.

Even though UCI seemingly dominated the first half by outshooting Denver from the field, 57.1 percent to 34.6 percent, it only led by one, 28-27, heading into intermission. The Pioneers kept the game close by draining four 3- pointers, collecting five offensive rebounds and committing just one turnover in the first 20 minutes.

Denver took a brief lead early in the second half on Chris Udofia 3-pointer, but the Anteaters ran off a quick 6-0 burst to regain control, and they would not relinquished that advantage for the rest of the game.

The Pioneers shot just 34 percent from the field on the afternoon and lost the rebounding battle, 29-24.
