Recap: Sacramento St vs. UC Riverside

Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dylan Garrity sank a pair of free throws with eight seconds remaining to lift the Sacramento State Hornets to a 69-67 win over the UC Riverside Highlanders in a non-conference thriller at the Nest.

Mikh McKinney scored 15 points and Garrity added 14 for Sacramento State (4-5).

Sam Finely scored a game-high 20 points for UC Riverside (4-8), which also got 12 points and five assists from Nick Gruninger and 11 points from Chris Patton.

The Hornets looked to be en route to an easy victory after shooting 50 percent in the first half to just a 28.6 percent from the Highlanders. Sacramento State led, 38-28, at the break.

UC Riverside came out firing and nailed 52 percent of its shots in the second half, while forcing nine turnovers. The Highlanders managed to knot the game at 67-67 with 29 seconds to play but Garrity calmly sank his free-throws on the other end and a last second attempt from UC Riverside was off the mark.

The Highlanders had a 24-18 scoring edge in the paint. The Hornets barely won the rebounding battle, 34-33.
