Recap: Charlotte vs. Elon

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Lester scored 24 points and added 11 rebounds to lead Charlotte to an 83-69 win against Elon.

Willie Clayton added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Terrence Williams chipped in 16 points and eight boards for the 49ers (2-1), who received 14 points from Mike Thorne Jr. and 13 points from Pierria Henry.

Elon (2-1) was led by Austin Hamilton, who shot 8-of-13 from the field for 19 points while adding five assists. Tanner Samson and Sebastian Koch added 12 points apiece in the loss.

Koch and Samson hit consecutive 3-pointers just before the midpoint of the first half to give Elon an 18-6 edge, but the 49ers outscored the Phoenix by a 26-14 count over the next 10-plus minutes to send the game into the break locked at 32-32.

Another Samson triple with 5:16 left in the tilt provided Elon with a 62-58 lead before the 49ers ripped off an 18-0 run that Williams capped with a layup to give Charlotte a 76-62 lead with 2:01 remaining.

Charlotte cruised to victory from there.
