Recap: Troy vs. UC Santa Barbara

Logan, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Boswell drilled a 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining to lift the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos to a 57-54 victory over the Troy Trojans in a non-conference thriller during the Basketball Travelers Classic at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Alan Williams led the way for UCSB (6-3) with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Taran Brown also added 12 points and Boswell tacked on nine off the bench.

Hunter Williams scored 18 points for Troy (4-5) but he missed a potential game-tying 3-point shot in the final seconds. Jeff Mullahey added 11 points.

The teams were deadlocked, 26-26, at the break. UCSB knocked down 52.4 percent of its attempts from the floor and Troy shot at a 32 percent clip. The Trojans made up the difference with an 18-6 scoring advantage from beyond the arc.

Hunter Williams connected on a 3-pointer with just under two minutes to play, breaking a 51-51 tie. However, Alan Williams split a pair of free-throws and, after a pair of missed foul shots from Troy, Eric Childress made a layup that brought the Gauchos even once again with just over a minute left. Mullahey missed a 3-point attempt on the next possession for Troy and Boswell answered on the other end with his game-winner.

The game featured seven ties and 12 lead changes. UCSB had a 37-28 advantage in rebounds. Troy outscored the Gauchos, 14-5, off turnovers.
