Recap: Charlotte vs. Fla Atlantic

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Lester recorded a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds as the Charlotte 49ers collected a 62-53 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls in Conference USA action at Halton Arena.

Willie Clayton tacked on 13 points for Charlotte (13-7, 4-3 C-USA), which had lost three of its previous five.

Pablo Bertone tallied 20 points and Marquan Botley chipped in 10 for FAU (7-14, 2-4), which had won three of its last five.

Charlotte clung to a 27-26 lead at halftime by connecting on 12-of-34 attempts from the field. FAU was just a step behind, netting 11-of-27.

Although the 49ers cooled to 30.8 percent shooting in the second half, they were able to pull away, thanks to a 15-4 scoring edge from the free-throw line.

Charlotte won the rebounding battle 42-39 and had a 28-6 edge in bench points.
