Recap: Charlotte vs. Middle Tennessee

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Jones tallied 17 points, eight rebounds and five blocks to lead the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders to a 71-49 triumph over the Charlotte 49ers in Conference USA action at Halton Arena.

Neiko Hunter contributed 15 points and six boards for the Blue Raiders (20-7, 10-2 C-USA) as they picked up their eighth consecutive victory. Kerry Hammonds added 12 points and four steals, while Tweety Knight handed out seven assists and also finished with four steals.

For Charlotte (14-11, 5-7), Terrence Williams scored 11 points. Pierria Henry netted nine points, but also committed eight of the team's 20 turnovers.

Middle Tennessee shot 43.8 percent from the floor in the first half. The 49ers went into the intermission trailing, 35-25, after they were outscored, 9-4, in points off of turnovers and hit on only 1-of-7 attempts at the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

Charlotte was limited to 41.7 percent efficiency from the floor after the break. The Blue Raiders pulled away as they hit on 50 percent of their field goal attempts including a 4-of-7 clip from 3-point range in the second period.

Despite the loss, the 49ers finished with a 37-30 edge in total rebounds. Middle Tennessee outscored Charlotte, 21-6, from beyond the arc.
