Recap: Jacksonville St vs. Ark-Little Rock

Tortola, BVI (SportsNetwork.com) - Ben Dillard scored 18 points in just 13 minutes off the bench as the Trojans of Arkansas-Little Rock topped the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 75-70, during the opening round of the BVI Tropical Shootout at the Multi-Sports Complex.

Josh Hagins scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Trojans (3-6), followed by Will Neighbour and Leroy Isler with 12 and 11 points, respectively, as the team snapped a two-game slide. James White came up a point shy of a double-double as he cleared a team-best 12 rebounds, while Neighbour collected 10 boards.

The Gamecocks (5-8) were paced by Darion Rackley with 17 points, five assists and three steals, while Brian Williams accounted for 14 points and four dishes as JSU lost for the second time in the last three outings.

UALR knocked down an impressive 51.9 percent from the field in the first half, including 4-of-6 behind the 3-point line, in order to put up a 36-30 advantage at the break. Both teams had trouble finding the mark from the free-throw line as the Trojans converted just 4-of-9 shots and the Gamecocks 6-of-13 at the charity stripe.

The issues for Jacksonville State at the line continued in the second half as the team made only 10-of-17, offsetting a solid effort from the floor (.520) as the team suffered the five-point loss.

Not only did the Trojans shoot 8-of-12 beyond the arc on the evening, they also held a 40-27 advantage on the glass.

Both squads will be back in action on Saturday in this event, matching up with Coppin State and Southern Miss.
